I Wonder…

Sometimes I write poems; sometimes they are explicitly sexual and sometimes they’re not. Here is one that is not, but was inspired (perhaps obviously) by my partner. The first line was born out of a feeling I had when we were having sex – the first time we ever really “made love” – the feeling that I wanted to feel his body and his movements in mine. Anyway. I hope you like it!

I want to wrap my body in yours;

Feel my muscles moving

When you dance.

Is it madness to think that

We might be perfect together,

I wonder

Is everything I never dared to want

And you are it.

We stumble at the same

Isn’t that what love is?

Isn’t that what life is?

I think

I’m genuinely asking.
